Kyse Delizia Elixir Review: Is It Better Than Delizia di Marshmallow?

Kyse Delizia Elixir Review: Is It Better Than Delizia di Marshmallow?

If you're searching for a marshmallow perfume that smells warm, fluffy and sweet without venturing into sugar-bomb territory, Delizia di Marshmallow Gran Riserva Elisir by Kyse Perfumes deserves a closer look.

The newest addition to the collection of Kyse's beloved gourmands and the first ever Kyse flanker  —Delizia Elixir takes the warm, gooey marshmallow DNA of the original Delizia di Marshmallow and gives it a slightly more mature—and surprisingly versatile—twist.

Built around marshmallow, vanilla, sugar and oakmoss, Elixir takes all the best qualities of Delizia in her prime form (after she’s matured for a few months and darkened) and adds oakmoss to make her airier, more nuanced and easier to wear across seasons and occasions.  The result is a soft, fluffy marshmallow gourmand that feels familiar but noticeably more refined.

Quick Summary

What Does Kyse Delizia Elixir Smell Like?

This smells like catching a breeze from a fresh batch of marshmallows—slightly warmed and toasted, then cooled and dusted with powdered sugar. They were just taken off brand new really nice wooden skewers, so there’s maybe a hint of the wood from the skewers adding a little something extra to the blend. The smell is familiar, inviting and a bit addictive, because it's appetizing without smelling overly edible.

Meet Delizia Elixir.

If you've smelled the original Delizia di Marshmallow, the family resemblance is immediate. Elixir doesn't reinvent Delizia or turn it into an entirely different fragrance. The warm vanilla-marshmallow DNA that made the original one of the most popular marshmallow perfumes remains firmly intact.

What changes is the texture and level of sweetness.

The original Delizia initially smells like warm, gooey marshmallows coated in powdered sugar. It's richer and denser when first applied before eventually settling into the lighter, airier vanilla-marshmallow cloud that remains on skin for hours. Many users do smell a more toasted note in Delizia, but I personally do not get that.

Delizia Elixir feels much closer to that airy drydown from the beginning.

The marshmallow remains the star, with vanilla adding warmth and creaminess and sugar providing enough sweetness to keep this firmly in gourmand territory. But the oakmoss quietly changes the composition.

Don't expect Elixir to suddenly smell green, earthy or overtly mossy. The oakmoss isn't prominent enough to turn this into a woody fragrance. Instead, it sits underneath the marshmallow and vanilla, cutting through some of the sugary sweetness and introducing just a hint of dry woodiness.

Elixir feels less sugary, less juvenile and a little more polished than the original Delizia. It's still very much a marshmallow perfume—you aren't going to mistake it for anything else—but it doesn't feel quite as literal as sticking your nose into a freshly opened bag of marshmallows, making it considerably more versatile.

Delizia Elixir vs. Delizia di Marshmallow: What's the Difference?

Delizia di Marshmallow is the warm, gooey marshmallow. Delizia Elixir is the fluffy airier marshmallow.

Aside from the differences in scent stated above, one of the biggest points of differentiation between the two fragrances is actually the formula and resulting performance. The original Delizia seems to be oilier and therefore sits on your skin longer. It also seems to project more and last longer, the latter of which can be attributed to its oily texture. Delizia Elixir is less oily and closer to the texture you’d expect when you spray an EDP, allowing it to dry down quicker. This seems to give it a softer performance than the OG, although it still has impressive projection and longevity.

Is Kyse Delizia Elixir Worth Buying?

YES—with a caveat.

If you already love Delizia di Marshmallow but wish it were a little less sugary, Delizia Elixir makes a lot of sense.

If you find the original to be too smokey, light or can’t smell it at all, or prefer the fragrance when it’s lighter in color, I am not sure Delizia Elixir would work for you.

If you love the original Delizia, don’t mind (or even prefer) a slightly less sweet and airier formulation and tend to let your bottle age and mature so the vanilla gets darker and richer, then you may love Delizia Elixir. With the Elixir, in addition to the oakmoss, you are getting a 6-month pre-aged batch of the regular Delizia di Marshmallow, allowing you to immediately enjoy it in its preferred state.

The biggest drawback is availability.

Delizia Elixir is currently sold exclusively through Kyse's website during the company's limited opening at the beginning of each month. Only approximately 3,000mls of the formula is released each month, making this considerably more difficult to purchase than the original Delizia di Marshmallow, which you can find both on Kyse’s website and Luckyscent.com.

Performance

Performance is good, but don't expect a beast-mode marshmallow.

On my skin, Delizia Elixir lasts at least eight hours, which is impressive considering how light and airy the fragrance feels.

Projection is moderate initially before becoming softer as the fragrance wears. Rather than filling a room, Elixir creates a gentle marshmallow scent cloud around the wearer.

And I actually think that performance suits this particular fragrance.

Part of Elixir's appeal is that it takes something as literal and potentially overwhelming as sugary marshmallows and makes it feel lighter and more wearable; extremely loud projection would work against that.

The longevity gives you the staying power you want, while the softer projection keeps the marshmallow from becoming exhausting after several hours.

Is Delizia Elixir a Unisex Fragrance?

In my opinion, YES, although it leans feminine.

Like the original Delizia, Elixir is primarily built around notes that don't inherently belong to either gender: marshmallow, vanilla and sugar.

The sweetness will likely cause many people to perceive it as feminine, but Elixir may actually be slightly more unisex than the original.

The reduction in sugary sweetness combined with the subtle woody quality of the oakmoss gives the fragrance a drier edge that balances the vanilla and marshmallow.

Ultimately, this is less about gender and more about whether you want to smell like a soft cloud of vanilla marshmallow.

Who Should Wear Delizia Elixir?

Delizia Elixir is an excellent choice if you're looking for:

  • A realistic marshmallow perfume that isn't overwhelmingly sugary
  • A lighter, airier alternative to Delizia di Marshmallow
  • A gourmand fragrance that feels slightly more grown-up
  • A sweet fragrance with subtle woody depth
  • A marshmallow perfume versatile enough for everyday wear
  • A long-lasting gourmand with moderate-to-soft projection
  • A vanilla-marshmallow fragrance that can work throughout the year

Perfumes Similar to Delizia Elixir

The obvious comparison is Delizia di Marshmallow by Kyse, since Elixir is built directly around the original fragrance's DNA.

If you love the warm, gooey, sugary side of marshmallow fragrances, the original Delizia remains the better choice. If you prefer something lighter and less sweet, Elixir takes that familiar DNA in a slightly more restrained direction.

The Lost Mallow by Siren Alchemy is another woody marshmallow gaining popularity for its sweet, yet refined and nuanced blend and La Fenice pour Femme by The Merchant of Venice is a powdery and slightly woody soft vanilla that has a similar, yet richer vibe.

Final Verdict

Delizia Elixir doesn't try to replace Delizia di Marshmallow—and I don't think it needs to.

Instead, it builds on the first and one of the most loved marshmallow fragrances - creating a more adult version of it.

If you want the richest, gooiest and sweetest version of marshmallow, the original Delizia is still difficult to beat.

But if you love marshmallow and have ever wished you could wear it without smelling quite so much like you just opened a bag of powdered sugar-coated sweets, Delizia Elixir may be the better Delizia for you.
